FWA Program Pitfalls

We just finished our Webinar Top 3 Fraud, Waste and Abuse Program Pitfalls and How to Overcome Them on March 29. We had some great attendance, really good questions, but we also wanted to share what we see those top pitfalls to be during the course of providing many program assessments for clients.

  • The first one is not reading the signs of a struggling program. We equated this really to a volcanic event, as you watch these signs build up over time. Any one of those signs alone doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a problem in your program. But when they all are together, you potentially have a bigger problem on your hands.

  • The second one is simply being “compliant” doesn’t always mean that you are going to have a successful fraud, waste, and abuse program. It means you have a compliant fraud, waste, and abuse program. But there are differences between having a compliant fraud, waste abuse program and having a very successful one.

  • Third, is a lack of organizational buy-in. Making sure that your organization buys into the value that you bring to the company.

That’s a recap of the three top pitfalls we tend to see during program assessments. We’ll record more videos so that we can dive into each one of them independently... and let me know. Are these some of the pitfalls that you see?
