FWA Program Pitfalls 3

In the final video in this series, we’ll talk about Pitfall #3 of the Top 3 Program Pitfalls and how to Overcome Them. This pitfall focuses on the lack of organizational buy-in and how that can be impacted with communication with other business units.

Consider this: How much of your FWA Program do you share with other business units?

Although our goals tend to seem different, we really all have the same goal: To improve the integrity of our healthcare system and to provide more affordable care for members! It's all in how we measure success.

We've found that the level of organizational buy-in that many SIUs get, tends to be commensurate with the level of exposure provided to what the SIU does! So, if you prefer to share very little, you may not get the level of support you want or need.

To get more buy in, share a little bit more. I'm not talking about getting into the details of your cases. I'm saying invite conversations within your organization that help you share a little bit more about what your team sees. It's really not hard to do if you try.

Examples of what to share:

  • Metrics related to number of allegations that make their way to SIU

  • Policy issues which may be putting your organization at risk

  • Expertise on your team (#AHFI#CPC, etc.)

  • Concerning schemes that you've been seeing with more frequency

The list goes on and on.
